Byblos will be the only Mediterranean restaurant in Atascadero
–Byblos Mediterranean Grill is opening in Atascadero the first week in February. “We will be the only Mediterranean restaurant in Atascadero,” said owner Sam Ayesh. Byblos is opening at 5945 Traffic Way, the former location of Fig Good Food.
Ayesh, who owns Bravo Pizza Plus in Atascadero, has wanted open a Mediterranean restaurant in North County since moving to Atascadero in 1991. “I owned Fattoush in San Luis Obispo for a few years, but sold it because I was already operating Bravo and wanted to be based in Atascadero.” Ayesh has owned Bravo since 1996 and serves some Mediterranean dishes at the pizzeria. “To prepare authentic Mediterranean food I need different kitchen equipment and most of my kitchen space at Bravo is needed for the pizza ovens. Bylbos gives me the opportunity to have a kitchen dedicated to traditional Mediterranean food.”
Byblos will serve traditional dishes such as gyros, falafel, kebobs, shawarma, pita wraps and salads including tabouli and couscous. Ayesh is adding more outdoor seating on the back deck and expanding seating into open space in the alley that connects Traffic Way and Entrada Avenue to the public parking lot behind the restaurant. “We are working on the building and making some changes to accommodate a Mediterranean kitchen,” said Ayesh, “We are looking forward to bringing our food to the community and to supporting our neighboring businesses.”
Ayesh is hiring for Byblos. Interested applicants are invited to bring their resumes to Bravo Pizza Plus at 8731 El Camino Real, Atascadero. Byblos will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. seven days a week. Diners can eat in, or order to go.
