Le Vigne Winery announced today the promotion of Colin Baker to assistant winemaker. Baker has been the Cellarmaster at Le Vigne Winery for the past two years.

“Colin is the perfect blend of hands on problem solver and self-taught winemaker,” says winemaker Michael Barreto. “He has a minimalistic approach to winemaking, along with his belief in allowing the grapes to speak for themselves is similar to my own philosophy regarding winemaking.”

Baker’s passion for winemaking began early. He was raised around the wine industry since the age of eleven and remembers cutting class to helping crush during harvest. Baker got his first “real” job in the wine industry as a tasting room attendant in 2004 pouring wine. He worked in several tasting rooms before starting to make wine in January of 2006. He was soon moved up in the cellar for his knowledge in construction, facility maintenance and the basic understanding of harvest.

“I am honored and excited about joining the Le Vigne winemaking team,” says Baker. “The opportunity to make wines from our vineyards in a unique style with the highest quality is what I strive for. I love creating wines true to the varietal as well as unusual blends; here, I get to do both. I look forward to contributing to the wine quality and growth of an already great brand.”

Le Vigne Winery is located off of Highway 46 East on Buena Vista Drive, about a mile away from the Paso Robles Airport. The vineyard includes over sixty acres on the Domenico Estate and forty on the new Acquarello Vineyard.
