                Welcome to SLO County
Welcome to the beautiful Central Coast. We hope you enjoy our Visi- tor’s Guide that brings you so many of the unique, interesting and enjoyable places to see and things to do. The county is great for exploring, enjoying great food, and tasting award-winning wines.
Businesses are open. Lodging, hotels, mo- tels, and vacation rentals are open. Outdoor activities are plentiful. While all our business- es, parks and outdoor activities require masks and work hard to help patrons maintain safe social distancing and clean, sanitary environ- ments, visitors and locals alike are still shop- ping, dining, wine tasting, hiking, cycling, exploring the beaches, tidepools and marine life, and the many historical landmarks that fill our streets and back roads.
Wineries have moved their tasting rooms outdoors and many favorite restaurants now have “al fresco” dining, bringing an old world feeling to good food and good company.
Paso Robles is home to many winemak- ing giants and Eberle Winery’s Gary Eberle is not only one of those giants, he’s known as “the godfather of Paso Robles wine.” Along with local accolades, Gary has received the California Wine Lifetime Achievement
12 SUMMER / FALL 2020
Award and the Robert Mondavi Wine and Food Award. Next year marks his 50th year in the wine busi- ness.
Publishers Scott and Beth Brennan and their family welcome you to San Luis Obispo County
Visitors to Eberle
Winery any day of the week, especially after 1:30 p.m. are almost guaranteed a personal welcome from Gary. Look for him sitting in his favorite chair accompanied by his dogs Sangio and Barbera. “Some afternoon, when you are free, come out and have a glass of Caber- net with me,” invites Gary in this edition’s cover story.
The next several months have some of the most beautiful weather on the Central Coast. As summer begins to wind down over the next several weeks, the crisper cool weather settles into the inland regions
and bright sunshine clears away the mysterious early morning coastal fog. Late summer and fall are some of the best times to explore as much of the Central Coast as time allows. And remember, you can always come back to do it again, or do what you missed on this visit.
On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to extend a warm welcome. We hope you enjoy your stay.
