Louisa’s Place, serving locals and visitors since 1958
Fifties-style diner in downtown SLO is a local favorite
Longevity is typically a rare and hard-won battle in the restau- rant industry, and one of those pre- cious few is Louisa’s Place, a classic fifties-style diner and a San Luis Obispo favorite for over 50 years. Originally opened as the “Best
Ever Grill” in 1958 the diner was purchased in 1976 by Louise Webb, and Louisa’s became an instant suc- cess. The Sweeney family purchased it in 1991, and Aubrey Pyle took over in 2019.
Where breakfast is champion
There are 26 omelets on the menu along with the build- your-own option. There are also
pancakes, local sausage, bacon, oatmeal, breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, and waffles. Louisa’s
is famous for their bacon Belgian
waffles, with generous chunks of actual, house-cooked bacon folded into the batter.
Try an omelet for breakfast at Louisa’s Place.
