Welcome to
San Luis
Obispo
County
Thank you for reading this latest summer
issue of the San Luis Obispo County
Visitor’s Guide. Discover the many op-
portunities for new adventures, great food,
award-winning wines, and the memorable
experiences that come with the area’s fa-
mous hospitality.
Welcome to the summer, with warm
days perfect for enjoying the beaches and
visiting the many landmarks throughout
the area. Spend your days sightseeing,
browsing, and shopping at some of
the most unique shops and galleries in
California.
A San Luis Obispo County summer
isn’t complete without a visit to the Cali-
fornia Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles. The
theme for this 78th annual fair is Wide
Open Spaces. Running from July 17-28,
every day is packed with traditional
fair activities including horse shows,
4-H and FFA animal exhibits, agricul-
tural exhibits, art, quilting, flower, and
home-made food exhibits, watermelon
contests, children’s activities, shopping,
tasty food, shows, live music, carnival
rides, and more. At night, the Chumash
Grandstand Arena
rocks with head-
liners including
Miranda Lambert,
Nickelback, and
TLC & Shaggy.
There’s something for everyone at the Califor-
nia Mid-State Fair! Tickets are on sale now!
The next several months bring crisp, sunny
mornings, warm and energizing afternoons, and
cool evenings—perfect for enjoying excellent
wine and your favorite Central Coast activities.
Enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting, followed by
unwinding with a delicious dinner and a good
night’s rest, ready for the next day’s adventures.
On these pages, you can learn what’s new at
some of your favorite places and be among the
first to experience the newest things to do and
see! And if you run out of time, remember that
you are always welcome back to explore more!
On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to
extend a warm welcome. We hope you enjoy
your stay.
