The Cracked Crab—Fresh seafood,
and a relaxed, casual atmosphere
Cracked Crab is the perfect
place to relax and enjoy an
easy meal, especially after a long
day on the beach. It has been a
one-of-a-kind restaurant on the
Central Coast since first opening
in 1999. The intimate casual at-
mosphere welcomes everyone and
casual attire is almost a require-
ment!
When
the origi-
nal owners
moved
from the
east coast,
it quickly
became
apparent
that a true
seafood
restau-
rant was
missing.
Cultivating
relations
directly
with local
fishermen, farmers, and proces-
sors, the Cracked Crab has become
one of the most successful restau-
rants in San Luis Obispo County.
Executive Chef Andrew
Shoneff takes the best of what is
in season and tailors the menu
to reflect the market. Order their
signature bucket and they lay out
the butcher paper to present the
highest quality shellfish to dig
right into. Delicious sides made
with local ingredients round out
the meal. General Manager Jamie
Habig says, “We strive to serve the
best seafood available, whether
locally caught fish or Alaskan crab.
Much of what we serve, espe-
cially our Alaskan king crab, is of
a quality unavailable to most other
restaurants.”

The
ingredients
used in the
Cracked
Crab
kitchen are
consistently of the highest grade.
The flavors of each dish reflect
those ingredients. For non-seafood
lovers, there are chicken and steak
entrees to please the palate. The
kid’s menu has plenty of options for
kid’s appetites. A great local wine
selection is offered to pair with the
food thanks to the Cracked Crab’s
direct relationships with Central
Coast wineries.
A new menu is posted on their
website daily. Chef Miller practices
an “in season” philosophy, using
local fresh catch when available,
local produce, and making all of the
dishes in-house and fresh daily.
Promising “The finest seafood
available, served in a most casual
style,” the owners invest in hiring
the friendliest folks they can find.
