More than five years after opening their doors, the European-inspired cheese store will close in March
By Parker Sanpei – Fromagerie Sophie owners Sophie and Paul Doering have announced the difficult decision to close their downtown shop. The decision was based on their desire to achieve a better work-life balance and to spend more time with their families.
“We have been amazed at how the community has embraced us and have truly enjoyed every moment in the shop. We’ve made so many friends and we cherish those relationships. This decision is extraordinarily difficult, but we are looking forward to the next chapter,” said Sophie. She continued, “This has been a wonderful journey and we’re eternally grateful for the support we’ve received from our friends and neighbors.” Sophie jokingly added, “I look forward to becoming a lady of leisure!”
The store is scheduled to close on Saturday, March 16 and will begin discounting select items on Monday, March 4. The final Cheese of the Month club pick-up will be held on Tuesday, March 12 for members.
