Discover guided tours and tasting

With award winning wines, spectacular grounds and hospitality, family owned Robert Hall Winery offers an array of activities for visitors to Paso Robles Wine Country. Its expansive grounds and facilities are family owned and operated with a keen eye on sustainability practices.

Wine tasters have a variety of options upon their visit. They can do a traditional tasting in the expansive tasting room. Lisa Pretty, Marketing Director for Robert Hall describes the tasting experience, “Customers are greeted as they enter the room to make them feel welcome. As they taste, they will receive the inside story about the wines, pairing ideas and recipes.” For those wanting a more in depth look at how the winery operates and how the wine is made, Pretty explains the tours offered at Robert Hall, “Private, guided tours of the cavern and winery facilities provide our guests with a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. The tour is very interactive with plenty of time for questions and one-on-one conversations.

The tour provides visitors with a number of facts about wine production and storage. Everything from details about the construction of the cavern, the growing stages in the vineyard, the winemaking process followed and ideal temperatures for aging wine are covered. Along the way, a barrel tasting is provided with a little education about cooperage – visitors can view the different sizes of oak barrels and tanks then learn why each is used for different styles of wine.”

Along with a focused experience with wines, Robert Hall Winery has a bocce ball court that begs to be used for an afternoon of leisure. The winery is also able to accommodate private tastings for larger groups on their amazing balcony.

Robert Hall Winery produces a number of single varietal wines (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) as well as signature blends, creating a portfolio they describe as the “Essence of Paso Robles”™. Lisa Pretty explains the philosophy of the winemaking and vineyard sourcing, “Robert Hall Winery produces a family of wines that reflect the best of what Paso Robles has to offer each of the varietals on our list is sourced from vineyards ideally suited to growing that particular grape. Our winemaker also does a fantastic job at crafting unique blends such as our Rhone de Robles and Meritage.”

Cabernet Sauvignon serves as their flagship wine and Winemaker Don Brady discusses the varietal, “Paso Robles has such diversity in terms of soil types, topography, and micro climates. By selecting Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from a number of diverse vineyards with specific personalities, coaxing the best out of each, then carefully merging them, we are able to deliver a well-crafted wine, vintage after vintage, that respectfully reflects Cabernet Sauvignon at its best in a Paso Robles wine.”

The wines are all made with integrity and those values actually begin in the vineyards and Lisa Pretty outlines the winery’s commitment to sustainability, “ as stewards of the land, our goal at Robert Hall Winery is the practice of sustainable farming, resource management and energy & water conservation. Robert Hall is committed to sustainability and our Hall Ranch estate vineyards are certified through the Sustainability In Practice (SIP)™ program. We were one of the first to be certified from the vine to the bottle. The SIP™  seal is proudly displayed on the back label for several of our estate grown wines.”

The combination of impressive grounds and stellar wines create the perfect setting for a wedding and Robert Hall hosts dozens of weddings a year. Couples are given the chance to utilize different areas of the winery for their big day—the courtyard, the Garden Terrace, the Meritage room, the wine library or the cavern. Hospitality Manager, Kristin Odenwald says, “At Robert Hall we are able to customize the wedding experience with our venue options, vast array of entertainment accessories and experienced, professional team. Every wedding is totally unique and we are delighted to part of such a special day.”

Robert Hall winery remains a family owned and operated business and Lisa Pretty states, “Owner Robert Hall will often be found in the tasting room greeting guests and telling stories. His granddaughter, Angela Ruberto, has recently joined him at the winery as General Manager and will help to carry on the family business with a hands-on approach.”

Regardless of what your intent is—wine tasting, discovering new places, touring, learning about wine, looking for wedding sites, bocce or picnicking – there’s a place for you at Robert Hall Winery and sip of wine waiting for you.
