SLO Brew announces boutique winery farmers market: Rock the Vine
– The first annual Rock the Vine event will be held Sunday, Nov. 19 from 12-4 p.m. as boutique wineries and smaller central coast cider producers are given a place to allow the public to taste their products and advocate for their wine. This event will be held at the SLO Brew Rock in their outdoor venue with live music, food, tasting and games. Tickets to the event include your wine tastings and a complimentary take-home Rock the Vine wine glass. $20 per person for the day and $25 at the door.
Rock the Vine is a start-up wine event produced by Alex Broedlow and Emily Rosa, two Cal Poly seniors, in conjunction with SLO Brew Rock. The idea is to is to provide a makeshift “tasting room” in a farmers’ market style event. This project is to promote and provide exposure to the locally owned wineries without a large scale tasting room of their own.
The SLO Brew Rock is at 855 Aerovista Place, off of Broad Street by the SLO airport. This is a 21+ event. Tickets can be found for purchase at slobrew.com/events.
As Agricultural Communication majors at Cal Poly, Alex and Emily decided they wanted to provide a new outlet for boutique and craft winemakers to come showcase their products for the entire Central Coast community to come enjoy. Cal Poly instills the Learn by Doing philosophy in their minds; With both of them coming from agricultural backgrounds and wanting to make their 4th and final year worthy of something before graduation day, the two were inspired to give back to the agricultural community. Over the past eight months Alex and Emily have worked closely with SLO Brew and their mentors Johnny Kenny, Lannon Rust and Mike Dawson to ‘learn by doing’ and prepare this event.
