—The San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra announces that its upcoming concert, “Melodies of Wonder,” is featuring acclaimed soprano and Broadway performer Amy Goymerac. This extraordinary event takes place on Sunday, September 29th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center (CPAC) in San Luis Obispo. Tickets are on sale now.

Amy Goymerac, known for her captivating performances on Broadway, joins the orchestra as the featured soloist. Her exceptional vocal talent is showcased in several pieces throughout the concert, adding a touch of Broadway glamour to the event.

The program includes an exciting lineup of works, beginning with the stirring “American Overture” by Jenkins and the evocative  “Grand Canyon Suite” by Grofé, which vividly paints the grandeur of one of America’s natural wonders. The afternoon also features the ethereal “Flower Duet from Lakmé” by Delibes, a beloved piece that highlights the beauty of the human voice paired with orchestral accompaniment. Other highlights of the event include Sousa’s spirited “Fugue on Yankee Doodle”, Anderson’s whimsical “The Typewriter,” and Mercury’s tender ballad “You Take My Breath Away.” The concert culminates with Shostakovich/Hunsberger’s rousing “Folk Festival,” a piece that embodies the vibrant energy and cultural richness of folk traditions. The concert offers a magical afternoon of diverse musical selections that promise to enchant audiences of all ages.

The San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Jennifer Martin, is a volunteer-based ensemble dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the Central Coast.
