San Luis Obispo’s Concerts in the Plaza begins June 9

–Downtown SLO and Sunset Honda have announced the beginning of the 2017 Concerts in the Plaza season, which launches June 9 in Mission Plaza. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the most popular free summer concert series on the Central Coast, with thousands of concert-goers attending every Friday evening. This year, bands from within the state of California were able to apply, broadening the reach of musical talent coming to the Central Coast. From more than 90 applicants, 14 of the greatest musical groups were selected to play for the upcoming annual concert season. Concerts run every Friday through Sept. 8 from 5–8 p.m. All concerts are free, family friendly, and open to the public.

The 2017 band lineup is as follows:

June 23: The Tipsy Gypsies | Vintage Jazz, Blues, Pop
June 30: Diego’s Umbrella | Gypsy Rock
July 7: Bear Market Riot | Rompin’ Power-Folk Americana
July 14: The Kicks | Roots, Soul, Reggae
July 21: Moonshiner Collective | Soulful Folk Rock/Americana
July 28: Resination | Roots, Rock, Reggae, Positive
Aug. 4: Royal Jelly Jive | Soul, Rock, Swing, Jazz
Aug. 11: Damon Castillo Band | Rock/Soul
Aug. 18: Young Dubliners | Celtic Rock

The will be pouring Chamisal Vineyards and Firestone Walker Brewing Company at each concert. This year, Firestone Walker Brewing Company is excited to participate in the Can and Koozie promotion, which features a new beer served in a can accompanied with a complimentary koozie. Woodstock’s Pizza will also be serving up slices of their famous pies to concert-goers. All GOVINO glasses used to serve wine at the event can be reused from week to week and are also recyclable, as is all plastic glassware used at concert events. Patrons are encouraged to reuse their glasses in efforts to be environmentally sensitive and keep downtown beautiful.
