Evolving from the first festival in 2009 with 30 scarecrows lining the sidewalks and streets of the town, the Cambria Scarecrow Festival has grown showcase 400+ creations throughout the charming town each fall.

Along the beachfront motels of Cambria and flowing over into San Simeon, local businesses join in on the fun with their artistic renditions. Scarecrows typically begin appearing the last week of September, with the full crop making its way throughout Cambria and San Simeon by Oct. 1.

The theme for the 2015 Cambria Scarecrow Festival, “A Magical Place,” encourages everyone to celebrate the magic that surrounds us, be it nature, community spirit, childhood fantasies or illusions. The sky is the limit and Cambrians never cease to amaze visitors with their creativity and imagination.

Use your smart phone or tablet to scan the QR code on each scarecrow and learn fascinating facts about the scarecrow in front of you. You can even track your favorite scarecrows, rate them or post their picture to your Facebook friends. Don’t miss the wonderful whimsy of October.

Throughout October, the public is invited to cast votes for the People’s Choice Awards; straw ballots will be available for one dollar apiece at select locations, along with a chance to win a two-day stay in Cambria.
