Valeriy Kagounkin earns Best of Show
The annual SLOPOKE Exhibition and Sale of Fine Art, a show juried by California renowned plein air artist John Budicin, awarded Best of Show to Valeriy Kagounkin for his oil painting “Gathering In His Name.”
The Runner Up was awarded to Greg Singley for his oil Painting “Which Way to Go” and the Sculpture Award went to Pat Roberts for her bronze “Javalina Havoc.” This year, Western Art & Architecture Magazine sponsored the Artists’ Choice Award which, by vote, was awarded to Regina Lyubovnaya for the best overall range of art presented at the show.
This fine art show featured the paintings, drawings, sculpture, and photography of 20 great artists from throughout the southwest. Each year, it is presented in a museum-quality, open floor plan format that encourages interaction with the artists while presenting the art in a professional setting.
“The two-day regional art event also included live performances of original music throughout Saturday by composer and classical guitarist Jon Stephen. His compositions are as tantalizing to the ear as the visual art is pleasing to the eye. Both formats of art are complimentary and speak to the souls of the visitors,” said an event organizer.
The SLOPOKE is a production by SLOPOKE Events, a business unit of the local entrepreneurial art enterprise known as ENTREPRISE, LLC. Each year the company transforms the Pismo Beach Veterans Memorial Building into a high quality art fair with ample space and parking available at this facility.
