Free event for all ages addresses healing the scars of bullying

burn the bully, central coast writers conference, jay asher–New to the Central Coast Writers Conference this year is the “Burn the Bully” event, inspired by presenter Jay Asher, local author of 13 Reasons Why.   The free event, taking place on Friday, Sept. 29 from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the flag pole on the Cuesta College campus in San Luis Obispo, is meant to be a coming together to heal from the scars of bullying and is for people of all ages.

“Participants will write the name of a bully on a strip of paper and place it on an effigy placed in a fire pit,” said CCWC Director Teri Bayus. “The fire and name burning will release the bully and the memory to the ashes. Hugs and affirmations will be offered afterwards.”
